(Poem) Ruin
I'm currently writing the final poems of a new chapbook, due out in 2022. This poem is a brand new piece, shared exclusively with my mailing list.
Ruin
the sky is so bruised
that i want to hold it.
i promise not everything has to open,
even if it means letting every wound succumb to rust.
i think i am a ruin
which is to say
that i never meant
to be beautiful,
only to endure.
maybe tomorrow
everything will be better,
the way every exhale leaves your body
with little more than a promise to return.

I’ve been working on my new chapbook for a couple of months now, and I’m finally coming to the end of the book. I think it’s fair to say that this collection will be unlike anything I have produced previously, both in terms of subject matter and the poems themselves.
The book has had the working title of Altar For The Hunted Things for some time now, but I think these poems deserve a name of their own. So, this collection will be called The Translation Of Silence, and I’m aiming to release them in the first half of next year. As always, I cannot wait to share new work with you, and I’m delighted to have been able to publish some of these poems with you before the release.
In the meantime, my next book ‘Murmuration’ is released in less than a month, worldwide. It’s the first collection I’ve released through a traditional publisher, and they’ve done a phenomenal job with the design, print and binding of the book. It’s something I’m genuinely proud of and I really can’t wait to hear your feedback.
If you haven’t already, you can pre-order the book through a number of retailers, depending on where you are. To make it easier, I’ve included a list below:
USA:
Barnes and Noble | Books A Million | Amazon.com | Book Depository
United Kingdom:
Waterstones | Foyles | WH Smith | Amazon | Apple Books
Canada:
Australia:
Germany:
Other:
Amazon India | Amazon Holland | Amazon France

Thank you all for your continued support, always.
Yours,
Blake.

I loved this! It is so beautiful and sad at the same time. ❤️
I love the title and I welcome the always profound and wonderful words. This piece is especially touching and as fragile as it feels at times, I feel such strength in the words. 💙
